Christian Coaching Frequently Asked Questions

Thank you for considering Christian coaching. My desire is to create a prayerful, encouraging space where you can listen for God’s leading, clarify your next steps, and grow in confidence and peace. Below you’ll find answers to common questions so you know what to expect and can discern whether this is the right fit for you.

General Questions

What is Christian coaching?

Christian coaching is a collaborative, forward-focused process that helps you discern where God is leading, clarify your priorities, and take practical next steps. We look honestly at your current season of life, listen for the Holy Spirit through prayer and Scripture, and work together to set goals that are realistic, compassionate, and aligned with your values and faith.

Who is this coaching for?

This coaching is for Christians who want to grow spiritually and practically—whether you are navigating a transition, seeking clarity in calling, feeling stuck in old patterns, or simply longing for a more intentional walk with God. You do not need to be in a “crisis” to benefit. Many clients come because they sense God inviting them into something new and want a safe, faith-filled space to explore that.

How long is each coaching session?

Each coaching session is 60 minutes. This allows enough time for prayer, reflection, and meaningful conversation without feeling rushed.

Do you offer individual or group sessions?

I offer both one-on-one (individual) sessions and small group coaching. Individual sessions provide focused, personalized support. Small group coaching brings the encouragement of community as we learn from one another while still keeping the group intimate and interactive.

What to Expect in a Session

What does a typical coaching session look like?

A typical 60-minute session often includes:

  • Opening in prayer and inviting the Holy Spirit to lead our time.
  • Checking in on how you are arriving today—emotionally, spiritually, and practically.
  • Reviewing any action steps or reflections from your previous session.
  • Reading and reflecting on a passage of Scripture connected to what you are walking through.
  • Exploring your current questions, challenges, or decisions in light of God’s Word and your values.
  • Collaboratively setting goals or clarifying focus areas for the coming weeks.
  • Identifying concrete next steps and support you may need.
  • Closing in prayer, entrusting your process and growth to the Lord.

How is Scripture used in coaching?

Each session is rooted in Scripture. We may read a passage together, meditate on a verse, or reflect on a biblical story that speaks to your situation. The goal is not to give quick answers, but to invite God’s Word to shape your perspective, comfort your heart, and guide your decisions.

Will we always begin and end with prayer?

Yes, we normally open and close our time in prayer. If at any point you feel uncomfortable praying out loud, you are welcome to let me know. I can pray for you, or we can spend a moment in silent prayer together. My heart is to honor your comfort level while keeping Christ at the center of our work.

Confidentiality and Safety

Is my coaching session confidential?

Coaching is meant to be a sacred, safe space. I treat what you share with great care, respect, and discretion. I do not talk about your story or details of our conversations with others, except in the limited situations described below. My desire is that you feel free to be honest and real without fear of judgment.

Are there any limits to confidentiality?

Coaching does not have the same legal and ethical confidentiality standards as licensed counseling or therapy. I am not serving as a therapist or mental health professional. In rare situations, I may need to share information if I believe there is a serious risk of harm to you or someone else, if you share about abuse involving a minor or vulnerable adult, or if I am required to do so by law. Whenever possible, I will talk with you about any concerns and next steps.

Are you a counselor or therapist?

No. I offer Christian coaching, which focuses on spiritual growth, discernment, and practical next steps. Coaching is not counseling, therapy, or medical care, and it does not replace professional mental health support. If you need clinical treatment, diagnosis, or crisis care, I encourage you to connect with a licensed counselor, therapist, or healthcare provider.

Practical Details

How do I schedule a session?

You can schedule a session by contacting me directly through the website contact form or email. Once we connect, I will share available times, answer any remaining questions, and help you choose a start date that works well for you.

How often do we meet?

Most clients meet either weekly or every other week, depending on their season of life, goals, and budget. We can discuss what rhythm would serve you best and adjust over time as needed.

What do I need to bring to a session?

Bring your Bible, something to take notes with, and an open heart. You may also want to bring any questions, decisions, or themes you sense God highlighting in your life. I will guide the flow, so you do not need to have everything figured out ahead of time.

What can I expect over time if I commit to coaching?

Every person and season is different, but many clients describe experiencing greater clarity, peace, and focus as they walk through the coaching process. Over time, you can expect to grow in awareness of how God is at work in your life, gain tools for making decisions in alignment with your values and faith, and take steady, realistic steps toward the changes you sense God inviting you into.
